The 7 Moai at Ahu Akivi

These are the 7 Moai at Ahu Akivi.  What is special about these 7  Moai?  They are the only Moai on the island that face away from the quarry.  These Moai symbolize the 7 explorers that found the Island originally, and they face back to the Polynesian islands that the original settlers came from.

One of these days I will get a GPS fit into my camera, and then I could take a picture looking to sea, like these Moai. Then I could try and figure out if they do look to some distant inhabited island or islands.......
