This Moai, with the eyes restored, is the only "living Moai" that I saw on Easter Island.

With the eyes in place, the Moai do seem far more "alive" (I think this reinforces the rule of photography that says for portraits, get the eyes in focus).  This is an excellent detail picture of the eyes, which would have been made from white coral and red volcanic rock (the same as the Kapao) originally.  The hawk keeping an eye on the proceedings is bonus......
