Back to the Easter Island Gallery 3 page Easter Island, Chile 2003 The Kari Kari Native Dancers 2003-12-02 Late on December 2, after taking photos of the sunset, Peter, Allison and I attended a performance by the Kari Kari Native Dancers. They are a local group, of dancers, singers and musicians, performing in a traditional Polynesian style (?). They performed for 90 minutes in a small, badly lit room at the Hangaroa Hotel. It was a great show. They performed a number of dances, most of which are stories with dancing / pantomime, music and singing. The male dancers jump around a lot, and must expend a hue amount of energy each night. It obvious keeps them all very fit. |
