The Town of Hangaroa

This is a picture of of the town of Hangaroa on Easter Island.  In fact, it's the only town on Easter Island.  I stayed in the Hangroa Hotel, and this is the view (power lines removed) from the patio behind my room. 

I love the ocean and waves and the sound of waves, so this was a special treat for me.  It was also the first tropical island that I had visited.  I spent the first morning in Hangaroa wandering along the shore, taking pictures and just savoring the experience. Me gustó!

Easter Island is a volcanic island, and there are only 2 sand beaches on the island, and they are kilometres away.  The shore is all water carved volcanic rock, and you can find coral in some of the splash pools among the rocks.
