As I said on the splash page, I'm a mild mannered computer professional in Calgary, Alberta. I am a native Calgarian (born and bred), which isn't very common (I guess everyone else fled from the winters here). I have 2 cats, Ebony and Jade. Here are pictures of each of them: Ebony. Jade in repose.
Friends (for the moment). Cuties, aren't they? Ebony is a chocolate point Balinese, which is basically a long haired Siamese. Jade is a tabby / Abyssinian cross. I've had the great fortune to get published in 2002 as a photographer. 28 of my pictures were included in the "Canadian Rockies Colourguide" , edited by Ken McGoogan. It's a Formac Publishing Company Limited book, ISBN 0-88780-554-X, and is available at Chapters bookstores (and hopefully others). My thanks to my author friend Jacquie Guest, who provided the opportunity. I've studied and dabbled in art since I was in my early teens, but I didn't get a camera until 1997, at the tender age of 39. It was a Fuji APS camera. I had lots of fun with that camera, up to and including my trip to Peru in 2000. But after comparing my APS photos with those my friend Peter Cromer took with serious 35mm gear and film, I decided I had to get serious, and the galleries prior to Chile & Easter Island in 2003 were taken with my 35mm equipment. In 2003 I climbed aboard the digital SLR train. Though there are a few downsides, basically digital is AWESOME! No more hauling 60-100 rolls of film around, and more importantly, no more hassles at airport security! I'm an avid cyclist in the summer, and (of course) try to get out and take pictures as frequently as possible. The only other item of interest to mention is that I am still learning to ski.... |
