Copper River, Alaska

On the highway north of Valdez, just before the junction with the east/west highway, there are observation points for the Copper River.  Copper mining was a big industry in parts of Alaska in previous years, and the river is named to reflect that industry.

When I took this picture, I was above the river on a bluff.  The mountains in the distance were obscured by cloud both days I was there.  Oh, well......
